Submission Stage

The Submission JAAP allocates a new neighbourhood of 2500 dwellings and associated uses West of Bewbush and develops further the position outlined in the Preferred Options JAAP, having considered all the alternative locations in the West and North West of Crawley Area of Study.

Additional studies and work has been undertaken since the publication of the Preferred Options document to inform the Submission JAAP. The Submission JAAP includes greater detail in a number of areas. The content of the Submission JAAP is illustrated on the conceptual masterplan, which indicates where and the type of development and land uses that will occur within the area West of Bewbush to create a neighbourhood.  The conceptual masterplan also illustrates the location of highway infrastructure, sustainable transport measures and external and internal linkages. The Submission JAAP includes a number of policies to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive and sustainable neighbourhood.

The Submission JAAP also outlines the policy approach towards the longer term, including the role of the remainder of the Area of Study (outside of the area identified West of Bewbush to accommodate the neighbourhood).

The Submission JAAP is accompanied by the SA/SEA Final Report, which appraises development occurring to the West of Bewbush and the alternative locations which were considered to accommodate the neighbourhood.  This appraisal process has been undertaken against the previously established SA/SEA sustainability objectives.  Also, where necessary, the SA/SEA outlines mitigation measures.  Overall, the SA/SEA process has been at the heart of formulating the Submission JAAP to ensure the neighbourhood is developed in the most appropriate and sustainable location and manner.
