Preferred Options
The Issues & Options JAAP was not site specific in terms of identifying an area to accommodate development within the Area of Study. Post the publication of the I&O JAAP a considerable amount of work was undertaken, with both Councils continuing to develop an evidence base to inform and support the Preferred Options JAAP. This enabled the Preferred Options JAAP to identify West of Bewbush as the preferred location for accommodating the development.
In addition to identifying the preferred location for a new neighbourhood, the Preferred Options JAAP outlined the preferred approach to providing appropriate facilities, services, employment provision and infrastructure to support the new neighbourhood.
The document also set out the alternative options that were considered in deciding the preferred option and took a strategic view in considering the longer-term role of the Area of Study.
A six-week consultation period ran from Friday 19th October until the 30th November and the comments can be viewed through the link to the right.
Extensive consultation took place during the consultation period, which included public exhibitions and a further stakeholder workshop.
Over 330 representations were received, some of which were detailed in nature. These responses have been analysed and considered as part of the process for producing the Submission JAAP.
In addition, following the consultation period further technical work was undertaken and a series of meetings were held with key stakeholders. These included discussions around the emerging masterplan, with infrastructure providers, the Highways Agency, West Sussex County Council, the Environment Agency and representatives from the local Parish Councils and amenity groups. All of which informed the preparation of the Submission JAAP.
